ten count – takarai rihito

hello internet it’s been pretty long since my last review and i have been drafting this for such a long time before bringing myself to actually start writing it…

actually i’m still having exams and actually i have no time for this but who said i couldn’t do this ?? 😀 so here i am folks also sorry for any inconsistency if there is any because i’m quite sure my way of writing has changed from a couple months ago 🙂 anyways let’s hop right in

first off, this is bl so if you ain’t into it, please swipe back up and maybe look at some other shoujo reviews okay 🙂 but if you are willing to give the genre a try, read this review and see if you are interested! (there are no spoilers anyway)

so i’ve actually read this twice… and i think it is really good?? (the plot okay) because i think it’s quite rare that bl has so much development (there’s a whole bunch that’s just oneshots, or just zero plot in general) and this storyline is! so! interesting! because some will try to input plot, but actually it will go better without the crappy plot (you know what i mean) so yeah i think plotwise, ten count is just really amazing because it’s hella developed and the ratio between the romance and the plot is really really great

and secondly,, this manga just makes me feel so many things… you don’t even knOW like do y’all get the numb feeling or like have clammy hands when your heart is just absolutely aching for the main protagonist??? that’s how i freaking felt reading this okay i wasn’t okay at all. the fact that kurose takes such good care of shirotani is just too precious to me ugh

so i guess i’ll just briefly talk about the characters without spoiling the manga too much (tbh as long as i don’t spoil the spicy parts,, ok i won’t continue) so kurose is this younger guy and he went through some crap when he was young, but at the end it sort of ties up its own loose ends (which i thaNK the author for holy shit) kurose is just very precious overall although he doesn’t seem like it (i won’t really call him a tsundere?? but he looks very emotion-less and yeah…) he fking tops anway 🙂

so shirotani… this guy went through tRAUMA when he was hella young (and some complicated ass relationship problems) and basically that’s why he was really ocd (like the actual condition, not the i-like-my-things-tidy kind) so yeah… also this was introduced at the very start so i ain’t spoiling you or anything. so he meets kurose and kurose is just trying to help him overcome his condition (this part links to the title ‘ten count’ by the way, go read to find out) and in the end they obviously end up together happily ever after i think this just shows how amazing kurose is ?? because shirotani is a really introverted guy and he is just really closed-off towards everyone else although he is on good terms with everyone (he has this distance between people) except for kurose (he earned it alright)

my favourite part in this entire story was probably the part where some b- woman came and tried to stir things up but just failed miserably lol (she earned it too i swear) i just love moments when kurose protects shirotani because that’s true romance guys

anyway the manga is really good if you like the bl genre!! and i think it’s a big must-read if you are into this 🙂 and also it’s pretty spicy so be prepared for that too i guess

so for some honest opinions, i think the reason why i appreciate bl so much is because of the desperation (?) because the protagonists always have to go through a bunch of crap together to be together, instead of very fluffy shoujo (not shading shoujo in any means, i like shoujo romance too) and i think it’s really not that easy to find love (wow deep) but hope y’all will like it because i absolutely loved it (as seen from me reading it twice)

nise x koi boyfriend – yamamoto ataru

*yaoi alert*

firstly, if you don’t like this sort of romance/genre, you should just not read it because i know that some people will give hate comments and things, and it’s really not good so just avoid if you can’t take it 🙂

anyway i won’t be discussing anything r21 so if you’re simply interested, continue to read on and see if you would like to give this manga a try 😀

just for context, this manga is a collection of several short stories/oneshots so it won’t take you very long to read it at all (i took like 30 mins max?) there are also other stories in the manga, but for this post i will be discussing about soutarou x meguru (which makes up about 4 or 5 chapters of the manga)

i won’t spoil anything but this manga is just so good for a really short story, and there are many concepts/ideas that were discussed and explored which i really really enjoyed. for myself, i am not really exposed to this part of romance (i usually read shoujo lol) but i thought this would be a good one to just read for fun since it’s so short, and i ended up reALLY loving it

so basically soutarou is this really shy and small boy and satoi is this tall extroverted hot guy who cross dresses as meguru chan and basically they got together and stuff in the end so everything’s great

i LOVE how controversial this story is because meguru is taller than soutarou, they are a same sex couple, one of them crossdresses, etc. i cried at this one part when soutarou was working so hard to be a better person so that meguru won’t be ashamed to be with him and won’t hate him in a sense. the plot was still good although this was a really short story, which makes it even better?? like how did the author even do that holy crap

there’s also the typical rival in the story (spoiler: a friend) but he’s not that relevant so whatever. honestly i don’t really know what to review about because it’s so short so anything i say in regards to the story will be a spoiler hhhh but anyway, give this a try!! this was one of my first yaoi mangas, and it got me into this genre so lmao but i havent found anything better than this yet so hooray for this manga

also the art style is really shoujo which i really like lol i just think that this manga is so amazing and everyone should give it a try (but it has obscene stuff so censor that yourself i guess) it was just really good and i hope you cry while reading too 🙂 i feel like my writing has gotten worse because it kind of sounds like i’m ranting but i hope it’s still okay to read, please enjoy the other oneshots in the manga too because they were pretty darn good for a oneshot!!

p.s tomorrow marks the start of online classes again and i’m really not looking forward to it, hope i survive and manage to turn my sleep schedule around 🙂

last game – amano shinobu

i must definitely say that this is one of my favourite manga i have ever read, because the love being portrayed here is so sincere and fluffy that you can’t help but fall in it too.

i really love the art style in the manga, it’s quite shoujo but not excessive with sparkly eyes and wavy hair, which is really perfect for me. yanagi is just such a big boy crush and kujou is the real black hair beauty (she’s similar to sawako from kimi ni todoke) most importantly of all, their perfect height difference. PERIODT. it gets me every single time when yanagi decides to bend down to kujou’s height and listen to what she’s saying like KSJDJSKDK yes king man i loved that scene (´-ω-`)

but again back to the plot, the manga really does a great job because i did not ever hate any character or find them annoying in any sense, and they are really essential to bring the entire story to a climax. for example, how momoka was motivation for souma to confess to kujou and kujou to realise her feelings for yanagi and go confess too. some characters were really just side characters like the two weeb senpai and maybe even shiori’s boyfriend (i didn’t remember his name at all but it starts with m i think) but really, the important characters were made important and i think the manga was not excessive in chapters (there is development in every chapter/phase.

BUT there is this little part of me that is triggered slightly and only slightly and that is: the characters’ names !! just for example, yanagi started off as yanagi hisato but midstory he suddenly became naoto and was called nao-kun by his mom and family. so i was like whA and i did a little googling and japanese and i found out yanagi hisato and yanagi naoto can actually have the same kanji as the writer intended; 柳 尚人 so i take that as an interpretation/translation error i guess. there is actually a time where kujou calls yanagi naoppe so i guess naoto will be what the author intends? i mean or else hisappe won’t really work right, so i guess i assume. but personally i prefer hisato as a name but whatever yanagi sounds posh as heck so whatever.

and for souma, there is also a change in names. his name changes to kei around the period where hisato changes to naoto (again, if i’m not wrong. also the first name he was given started with m but i forgot again) anyway, i prefer kei because it’s real cute when kujou calls him kei-kun (he’s a fluff omg) but honestly i think it’s fine because other people calls him souma which remains the same throughout.

apart from small translation/interpretation mistakes, i think the manga is so perfect, having read it twice throughout. again, it’s a shoujo so if you are not very interested, you may not find it all that cute (subjective!)

the story ends on a high by showing our all time favourite scene: the wedding, and on top of that added some scenes of them at home having the married couple life which is great too. man i just love the story too much i hope i’m not sounding biased of any sorts.

again, last game is really worth the read because it’s cute as hell. reading it twice did not make me tired from reading, i feel i understand the characters a little more which is great. last game is one on the better known shoujo romance manga, and i also really hope it gets animated ;-; give yanagi a chance to make your heart flutter! hope you enjoyed reading thus far 🙂

nisekoi – naoshi komi

i stayed up yesterday till 5am to finish this manga, and i just want to say i was continuously sobbing from the last 30 chapters onwards ;-;

the earlier plot was pretty much the same as the one in the original anime, but i started to feel really tired reading it because there was so many chapters and every chapter was a little story which does not really give any development except for the part near the back where raku finally realised that he was in love with chitoge (note: my ship is chitoge x raku)

i actually dropped the manga at chapter 122 for quite some time because i felt really lazy to read it (i think i have no stamina in reading whatsoever lol) but yesterday i finally got the motivation to start reading again just to find out what happens so that was exactly what i did until 5am in the morning. i’m the kind to read every speech bubble (even the small text, t/n or sfx) but after i picked it up again, i was just speed reading through without looking much at their speech. so although i get a pretty clear idea of what’s happening, i wasn’t able to focus and catch the details until the plot finally comes back again (onodera finds the torn out page, maiko asks raku if he really liked onodera etc.)

i was really happy at that part of the story because it was the real climax and everything started to come together so i was able to focus a lot more on the dialogues and conversations again 😇

and from then until the end of the story, i was just SOBBING. i think it started with yui who confessed to raku, and then marika, tsugumi, and all the other girls.

honestly i was quite surprised when he claimed to “like two people at the same time” because i was just expecting for it to be chitoge, but i guess i understand because chitoge and onodera are just too different to be compared?? but anyway i was like ö when that happened.

AND for the best acceleration of plot, i got to witness firsthand how ruri falls in love with maiko (a very amazing experience i must say) and confesses to him in the middle of the road like Ö ruri??? character development??!? yeS pLeAsE

i was also quite shocked when chitoge wasn’t the person who made the promise (because i was so sure at first) but i guess that was what made the ending so good, the fact that raku just throws away the fact that onodera was the one who made the promise with him and was like “i want it to be you chitoge”.

i guess a great takeaway from the entire story is how fake love comes easy but real love comes with lots of rejection, trials and crying.

this is the most extreme harem i have ever read/watched since there are six (i should have counted properly) female characters infatuated with raku with exception of ruri and honestly i kinda hated it because of how frustrating it was to get the main characters together but after reading the ending, i felt like that was the best harem ever (at least i hope) the loose ends are tied up really nicely and the ending was just a good end-off for the entire story.

i’m really glad i could pick up the manga again after leaving it for a period of time because the ending made the entire manga worth to read. and also, my favourite character is probably maiko :”)

note: i’m not going to give ratings because i’m indecisive and i feel like i will regret a lot next time
